Strings Italian Cafe, nestled in the heart of Yreka, California, offers an authentic and memorable Italian dining experience that feels like a warm embrace from an old friend. Specializing in traditional Italian cuisine, Strings stands out through its carefully curated menu that celebrates both classic and inventive flavors.
The menu itself is a treasure trove of Italian delights. Guests consistently rave about the calzone—a golden, crispy parcel brimming with rich cheeses and savory fillings that practically melt in your mouth. The minestrone soup is a comforting bowl of hearty vegetables and fragrant herbs, perfect for starting a meal on a soothing note. For those seeking a hearty entrée, the baked lasagna dinner layers tender pasta, robust meat sauce, and creamy béchamel, resulting in a dish that’s both indulgent and satisfying.
Vegetarian diners won't feel anything less than catered to with the veggie pizza topped generously with fresh-seasoned vegetables and melted mozzarella, or the artichoke ravioli that delivers a delicate balance of flavors wrapped in velvety pasta. The seafood offerings, such as the zesty shrimp scampi appetizer or the crisp fried calamari, add a delightful ocean breeze to the menu's rich Italian tapestry.
Diners often emphasize the exceptional portion sizes—generous yet artfully presented—which provide great value without sacrificing quality. The meatball sandwich comes highly recommended by locals and visitors alike, accompanied by warm seasoned bread and a fresh side salad or soup, making it an excellent lunch option. On the sweeter side, the house-made tiramisu and the delightfully creamy spumoni ice cream provide a perfect finale to the meal.
The ambiance at Strings Italian Cafe is both spacious and welcoming, striking the right balance between casual comfort and fine dining elegance. Diners have noted the friendly and attentive service, including a knowledgeable waitstaff and a warm, inviting bartender who adds a personal touch to every visit. The wait staff were great, the food was awesome. It's a bit pricey, but the portions are large and it tastes great.
I really liked this restaurant. The portions were generous, the food was tasty, and the staff was friendly. I stopped in for lunch and had the recommended meatball sandwich which with included soup or salad, a pasta salad, and warm seasoned bread. The sandwich was large enough that I took the second half to go.
Me and my husband drive up from San Francisco to Corvallis twice a year and Strings Café is our go to stopping point for lunch or dinner. The minestrone soup rocks and so does every pasta dish we’ve ordered on the menu. The food comes out hot, it’s delicious, and tastes consistently the same each time we go there. We’ve been going to this place for almost a decade and love it!
Strings is an amazing find for Italian food. We went for lunch and the food was delicious. Portion size was good for the price and presentation was spectacular. It truly felt like a fine dining experience! There is ample dining space and the lady bartender was lovely and welcomed us. Parking is behind the restaurant !
Pretty impressed with the gluten free options at this small town pasta joint. They had zucchini noodles fresh for my boyfriend who was able to enjoy some tasty “pasta”. The wait person was very knowledgeable about the menu and very friendly. They also had tasty cheesecake with unique varieties. We tried the Ube flavor and it was fresh and delicious. In a town that doesn’t have many options this was a rare gem of a find for these travelers!
We love this restaurant! Two of our co-workers recommended checking Strings out and we’re glad we did because no matter what we’ve ordered off the menu it’s all been fantastic! Also best lemon drop drinks ! (Awesome service as well )
As others said, minestrone and salad were quite good. We had veal parmesan and do mot recommend it. I'd say the veal had been in the freezer for a few months. This was our first time back in several years. One thing hasn't changed: the shortage of garlic and spices in their dishes. We do love their rear patio and were surprised that on a perfect night, mo one else chose to dine out there. Service was good, although no checkup once we received our dinner. We would have liked salt and pepper shakers...ah well.
